Weekly Update : Screen Time, Springtime, and Slightly Overcooked Calamari

Spring has officially sprung, and so have I—from the couch to the outdoors (gasp!). It’s the end of the first week of April, the sun is doing its thing, and the warm weather has me out here romanticizing my life like I’m in a movie montage. How’s the weather in your corner of the world?

Now, let’s talk screen time: I averaged 5 hours this week. Most of it was me deep-diving into YouTube, Reddit, and Instagram. Not exactly Nobel Prize material, but hey, it's better than where I started. I caught myself doom-scrolling YouTube a few times (why am I watching 45-minute documentaries on cheese production?), and Reddit? She’s getting the boot. Nothing valuable there except the realization that I need to reclaim my time. Progress, not perfection. Next week’s goal: fewer rabbit holes, more actual rabbits—outside.

Okay, onto the fun stuff:

Sunday was peak self-care mode. After a Saturday that ran me ragged, I entered full-on cozy burrito formation—naps, couch lounging, a little frolic with my dog in the sun. Zero regrets... except maybe for the part where my screen time chart looked like it was trying to launch into orbit. It was by far my worst day for scrolling. This week’s mission: discover higher-quality laziness. Less doomscrolling, more intentional loafing. Preferably horizontal, but phone-free.

Monday was all about the grind—running grind, that is. I wrapped up an 8-week training plan with a 5K time trial and shaved 40 seconds off my mile time (cue dramatic applause). I’m now clocking in at 10:23. Is it fast? No. Is it faster than before? Absolutely. New plan started Thursday—sub-10-minute mile, I’m comin’ for ya.

Mini tangent, but hear me out: one of my favorite things about being an adult (besides being able to eat ice cream for dinner) is doing things just because I love them. I used to hate running—thanks, childhood sports trauma—but now I run for me. No pressure, no competition, just endorphins and that sweet sensation of stress melting off my spine. End tangent. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Tuesday was a full-blown cleaning frenzy. The spirit of Marie Kondo possessed me, and I decluttered like my lease depended on it. I finally sold the extra dog crate that’s been haunting my tiny apartment, and it went to a sweet couple who rescued a street pup. Bless their hearts. May that little floof sleep soundly in his new crib.

Wednesday = date night! My boyfriend and I like to keep it low-key during the week, so we grabbed Cava and watched cooking videos. We’re collecting healthy-ish recipe inspo, which is our grown-up version of flirting.

Thursday was a triple-shot espresso kind of day. Started a new running plan, took my pup to his first day of obedience class (he crushed it—go team!), and we’re officially on the path to dog sports. Watch out, world.

Friday threw me a curveball with last-minute cancelled plans, but I pivoted gracefully into pilates and a mini Trader Joe’s adventure. The shrimp scampi and calamari? A tragic love story. But the cookie butter ice cream and Shiraz? Five stars. Redemption.

Saturday was all about the pottery studio. I trimmed some cylinders and learned to throw oil cruets (yes, I’m fancy now). Fingers crossed they survive the trimming and glazing phase—ceramics is not for the faint of heart. Are you looking to give pottery a spin? Check out my wheel talk post to get inspired.

That’s my week! Scroll down to peep my screen time chart. The trend is downward (we love to see it), but Sunday through Tuesday need a little TLC. Tune in next week to see how I tackle early-week scroll demons.
